Lutheran Haven, Inc. was founded on the vision of Slovak Lutheran immigrants who sought to create a safe and nurturing environment for both children in need and retired pastors with limited means. Beginning in the 1920s, these pioneers settled in what is now Oviedo, Florida, cultivating the land and establishing a foundation rooted in faith and community. In 1937, Mr. Andrew Duda Sr. generously donated land and resources to establish the first homes for the elderly and dependent children, officially opening in 1948 under the guidance of the SELC District of the Lutheran Church – Missouri Synod.
Over the decades, Lutheran Haven has evolved to meet the growing needs of older adults, offering a comprehensive continuum of care that includes independent living, assisted living, memory support, rehabilitation, and home healthcare services. Guided by a dedicated Board of Trustees, the Haven continues to expand its mission beyond the community, providing compassionate care to seniors throughout Orange, Osceola, and Seminole counties. Lutheran Haven remains committed to honoring its founders’ vision by fostering a welcoming Christian environment where residents and neighbors alike can enjoy security, friendship, and meaningful support throughout retirement.
