A proud United States Marine Corps veteran who served during the Korean War, John is also an active member of the Thiemann-Tidd VFW Post 5651. His lifelong dedication to service, community, and country makes him a fitting choice to lead this year's parade celebration. The 2026 New Melle Festival theme, “Stars, Stripes & Small Town Pride,” honors the spirit of patriotism and community that John Urban represents so well.
