Parachute Ave. Service at the new location will start on Thursday, April 9. The pantry will continue to operate two days a week, but with a new schedule: Tuesdays and Thursdays from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. The pantry will continue to offer supplementary food in a grocery-store-style experience to anyone in need, regardless of income, age, ethnicity of immigration status. “This move reflects our commitment to serving our community in the most accessible and effective way possible,” LIFT-UP Executive Director Samanth Freese said. “By co-locating with other vital services, we're not only improving the experience for our guests, but also strengthening our ability to grow and respond to increasing needs.” The pantry was previously located at 201 E. 1st St. in a building owned by LIFT-UP that was also home to a thrift store. LIFT-UP closed the thrift store and put the building up for sale last fall, as the organization refocused on its core mission of providing food assistance. The sale of the building is now imminent. In addition to Parachute, LIFT-UP operates four other community food pantries and a mobile pantry. More information about LIFT-UP's pantries and programs can be found at its website, liftup.org.
