UMN Crookston to Host Homeschool Graduation Ceremony and Reception May 7CROOKSTON, Minn. – The University of Minnesota Crookston will once again provide area homeschool and online high school seniors with the opportunity to celebrate a major milestone, hosting its second Homeschool Graduation Ceremony and Reception on Thursday, May 7, 2026.The ceremony will take place at 2:00 p.m. in Bede Ballroom on the UMN Crookston campus, with a reception to follow. On the heels of a successful inaugural event in 2025, the ceremony returns in response to strong interest from families across the region seeking a meaningful, traditional graduation experience. As homeschooling and online education options continue to grow in northwest Minnesota and the greater Red River Valley, the event offers students a chance to be recognized in a formal setting alongside their peers. “Every graduate deserves a moment to be recognized for their hard work and accomplishments,” said Lynsey Huseth, Director of Strategic Marketing and Communication at UMN Crookston. “The positive feedback we received from last year's ceremony made it clear how meaningful this experience was for families, and we're excited to offer it again to celebrate this year's graduating class.” The ceremony is open to all homeschool and online high school seniors throughout the region. Participating graduates will be individually recognized during the ceremony and invited to celebrate with family and friends. UMN Crookston will provide the venue, decorations, refreshments, certificates, and slideshow technology at no cost to participating students, helping ensure the event is accessible to families across northwest Minnesota and eastern North Dakota. The May 7 event is designed to offer the traditions of a graduation ceremony while maintaining the flexibility and personalization that define homeschool and online education pathways.
