OCCU Foundation to match donations to help families affected by pause in food aid.FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASEEugene, Oregon – November 3, 2025 “OCCU Foundation to match donations to help families affected by pause in food aid.” As of November 1, more than 750,000 Oregonians have lost access to SNAP benefits due to the ongoing government shutdown, leaving thousands of families facing immediate food insecurity. In response, the OCCU Foundation — the philanthropic arm of OCCU (Oregon Community Credit Union)— has launched an urgent appeal through its Feeding Families Fund to provide critical support for those most affected. “Hunger is a significant issue across our community, and the pause in SNAP benefits is causing additional hardship for many families,” said Ron Neumann, chair of the OCCU Foundation board and OCCU’s president and CEO. “OCCU Foundation established the Feeding Families Fund to help local food banks and programs provide reliable food access. We are inspired by the tireless work of our partner organizations and the generosity of our community.” Double your impact To maximize community support, the OCCU Foundation will match up to $50,000 in contributions—doubling the impact of every dollar donated. Both OCCU members and non-members are invited to donate in-branch or online at MyOCCU.org/feeding-families-fund. Local nonprofits on the frontlines The Feeding Families Fund partners directly with local nonprofit food banks and community organizations, ensuring that donations reach those in greatest need. Since 2024, the fund has distributed more than $200,000 to support local food banks, school pantries and after-school programs across the region. The foundation recognizes that the pause in SNAP benefits is expected to drive even more families to local food banks, which are already stretched thin. To provide immediate assistance, the OCCU Foundation sent funding this week to the following nonprofit organizations: • Food for Lane County • Marion/Polk Food Share • Linn/Benton Food Share • United Community Action Network (UCAN) • The Giving Plate • NeighborImpact Every donation, large or small, helps ensure no family in our community goes hungry. Together, we can make a difference — one meal and one family at a time. Submitted: 12/04/25 Article By: |
