Artifact Appreciation Day
Description
Do you have Native American artifacts that you want to learn more about? The Madison County Historical Society (MCHS) and the Cahokia Archaeological Society (CAS) are hosting an Artifact Identification Day on Saturday, May 2, from 1-4 p.m. at Immanuel United Methodist Church, 800 N. Main Street, in Edwardsville, Illinois. The event is in the lower-level Community Room on the south side of the church.
The afternoon will begin at 1 p.m. with a brief program by Dr. Erin Benson of the Illinois State Archaeological Survey. Following the program, attendees can approach one of five professional archaeologists on hand to identify what artifacts are, what they were used for, and an approximate time-period. In addition to archaeologists provided by CAS and MCHS, there will also be an archaeologist from the Illinois State Archaeological Survey. The archaeologists will not provide monetary values and this is not a sale or trading event.
