In addition, we provide an opportunity for the community to honor extraordinary people with the Golden Barrel Cactus Award for Philanthropy. This year's recipients are Dick and Sally Ingraham for their commitment to the Ruth Bancroft Garden since it was established in the early 1990's and their community activism. Both Dick and Sally Ingraham have been active members in Walnut Creek working on projects like the Shadelands Research and Development Area; the Open Space Committee which contributed to providing parks and trails for every section of Walnut Creek; and planning and fundraising for the Lesher Center.
This year the theme is "Swinging In The Garden." The proceeds for the dinner help to support our very important School Tours Program which teach youth about water conservation, history and the science of horticulture in an interesting and fun way. Mayor Sue Rainey will be Master of Ceremonies. Reservations are required and can be purchased online through our website www.ruthbancroftgarden.org
