Set for Life Platelet Partnership Drive
Description
In partnership with the City of Hope, Set for Life is conducting a Platelet Drive. In celebration of Black History Month and addressing the need for blood donors, Set for Life is encouraging those who live in the San Gabriel Valley with a focus on African Americans and People of Color to make a small investment to save another person's life. In celebration of Black History Month and the life of Dr. Charles Drew, Set for Life encourages all African Americans and people of color to become regular donors. Unfortunately, over 70% of African Americans can not find a Blood type match within their own families. They, then, require an unrelated individual willing to be tested and then to donate. The most compatible Blood transfusion is most likely to come from someone of the same ethnic, racial and genetic background as the patient. The drive will be held at The City of Hope in the Blood Donor Center, 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. We will continue our celebration of life at Bourbon Street Bistros located at 1845 Huntington Drive, Duarte, CA 91010.
