Heritage Arts Festival
Description
Monroeville Heritage Art Festival, Old Courthouse Museum and Downtown Square. The historic downtown square is transformed into a wonderland of crafts, quilts, woodworking, basket weaving, soul food and fine art. A fashion show, gospel music, and ethnic dance performances are also featured. This event is sponsored by the Mary Jerald Gardner Club and the Monroe County Heritage Museums. The Museums’ Gift Shop also features many unique items. Be sure to shop generous selection of Black History memorabilia. The gift shop features books following the plight of African Americans from slavery through the Civil Right’s Movement, posters, prints, collectible “Black Heritage” postage stamps, and the “Spiritual Circle” CD recorded by the Monroe County Interdenominational Mass Choir. The Gift Shop also carries great food items year-round such as, Rikard’s Mill stone-ground grits and cornmeal plus locally made honey and pepper jelly. The event will last from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Admission is $5.00 for Adults & $3.00 for Student/Senior 10:00 a.m.- 4:00
