Judge Jennifer Schwartz is a lifelong Las Vegas resident with deep roots in faith, family, and public service. The granddaughter of Holocaust survivors and a World War II veteran, and a first-generation American, she has built her career on the values of perseverance, gratitude, and community. Judge Schwartz earned her undergraduate degree from the University of Arizona, where she was actively involved in leadership and service, and later graduated from the William S. Boyd School of Law at UNLV as part of the school’s second graduating class, reflecting her commitment to strengthening Nevada’s legal community from its foundations. Her early legal experience included clerking for District Court Judge Michael Cherry and working in private civil practice, followed by years of dedicated service at the Clark County Public Defender’s Office, where she advocated for fairness and the constitutional rights of all individuals.
Elected as District Court Judge for Department 17 in January 2023, Judge Schwartz presides over both civil and criminal matters with integrity, balance, and a commitment to accessibility and transparency. Outside the courtroom, she is deeply engaged in her community, volunteering with organizations such as Hope for Prisoners, The Just One Project, and local youth programs, while supporting initiatives that strengthen families and provide critical resources to those in need. A devoted wife and mother, Judge Schwartz draws inspiration from her family, including her husband, a retired Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department Detective Sergeant, her teenage son, and three rescue dogs, bringing a personal understanding of service, resilience, and the value of community to every aspect of her work.
