Gunnison County Library District has been a cornerstone of community learning and exploration for over seventy years. Its story began in 1939, when the American Association of University Women opened the first library in the basement of Webster Hall with just 2,000 volumes. Officially designated the Gunnison County Public Library in 1965, the library has continued to grow alongside the community, moving to its current Gunnison location in 1975 and expanding in 1983 thanks to the vision and generosity of local philanthropist Ann Zugelder, whose name the building proudly bears.
Today, the Gunnison County Library District serves residents and visitors alike as a hub for knowledge, culture, and connection. Offering diverse collections, programs, and resources, the library fosters lifelong learning and discovery for all ages. With a commitment to accessibility and community engagement, it remains a trusted destination where ideas flourish and the love of reading and learning thrives.
