The Nevada Department of Transportation (NDOT) is dedicated to providing, operating, and preserving a reliable and sustainable transportation system across the state. Established in 1917 as the Nevada Department of Highways, NDOT has grown from its early efforts, initially funded with just $20,000 and relying on convict labor, into a modern agency managing 5,400 miles of highways and over 1,000 bridges, with an annual capital outlay of approximately $600 million.

NDOT is organized into three regional districts, with offices in Las Vegas, Reno, and Elko, supported by major maintenance stations in Ely, Tonopah, and Winnemucca, all under the guidance of a seven-member Board of Directors and executive staff headquartered in Carson City. Our mission is to enhance safety, quality of life, and economic development through innovative and collaborative transportation solutions, guided by core values of respect, integrity, accountability, communication, teamwork, and flexibility. NDOT strives to improve safety, optimize mobility, preserve assets, and create a great workplace, ensuring that travel throughout Nevada is safe, efficient, and accessible for all.
